  1. the culture monkey is earning money?

  2. traxus4420 Says:

well, it was going to have adsense up, but now it’s not. false advertising.

  3. what is adsense?

  4. traxus4420 Says:

When those text ads come up on Google and Google-related sites. If they get clicked on you (the blog owner) gets a share of the profits. I think Google also gets access to your blog’s web traffic information.

  5. so in which sense did you sell out?

by the way i read that book about games that shaviro reviewed and he rightly remarked that it’s entirely devoid of psychoanalysis – it only addresses cognitive intelligence, not the emotional one, or the Unconscious.

i was musing the other day that good cultural theory should be a work of poetry in itself, so that it expands the artwork concerned; in this way it avoids being the imposition of the interpreter’s interpretation, as is often the case in reviewing

i watched buffy and it didn’t manage to engage me somehow, because the visual design (similar to the stuff you see in shakira’s video clips) speaks to the audience of trailer trash retards who collect magazines about motorcycles and soft porno images of britney spears and that kind of stuff. holland is full of them, it’s disgusting. they also read the weekly edition of donald duck (sic!).

  6. traxus4420 Says:

well, i didn’t really, i just thought i was going to because of the adsense thing, since a lot of the thing i wrote at culturemonkey has to do with the bellerian critique of the information economy, chabert’s eyeball selling biz. but we’re not doing that, so it doesn’t matter.

yes, after benjamin this has been the ideal, much yearned for and rarely reached.

buffy i don’t like, but don’t agree with you on the aesthetic. i think it’s more a show for nerds than the people you’re talking about. the fascination being that it’s about a ‘popular kid’ who lives the nerd fantasy — some weird issues with projection and masochism there that chabert did some good things on back when she was van worden. maybe you have to know american high schools? but that’s a silly thing to say, since american high schools are in all kinds of popular movies, and we learn what they’re like from the movies the same as you do.

donald duck has a weekly edition?

  7. in holland i tell you the audience is usually aging hippies who look like they’ve just gotten of their harley davidson complete with plastic jeans and they invariably have a poster of britney spears on the wall in the same clothes that buffy wears. i intensely dislike that kind of a design. as for american highschools, traxus, i just so don’t give a fuck about american highschools in general.

  8. yes donald duck is still read passionately in the netherlands, on a weekly basis
